RMIC

The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), located in Dehradun, India, is a premier Inter-Service Category 'A' establishment administered by the Ministry of Defence since 1922. It provides, to boys and girls, quality education on public school lines, specifically preparing them for leadership roles in the Indian Defence Forces and the National Defence Academy.

Admission Level

  • Admission is for Class VIII, with the exam held twice a year, typically for December and July terms.
  • Entrance Exam: The selection process includes a written exam (Mathematics, General Knowledge, English) and a Viva-Voce to test intelligence and personality.
  • Curriculum: The institution focuses on a balanced curriculum comprising academic excellence, physical training, and character building.
  • Location: Situated in the Doon Valley, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
  • Aim: It acts as a feeder institution for the National Defence Academy (NDA), with many of its alumni becoming service chiefs.

Eligibility Criteria (January 2027 Term)

  • Age: Candidates must be between 11½ and 13 years of age as of January 1, 2027.
  • Born Between: January 2, 2014, and July 1, 2015 (both dates inclusive).
  • Education: Candidates must be studying in Class 7 or have already passed it from a recognised school at the time of admission (January 1, 2027)

Selection Process

The admission process consists of three major stages:

  • Written Examination (400 Marks)
  • Mathematics: 200 Marks (90 mins).
  • English: 125 Marks (120 mins).
  • General Knowledge: 75 Marks (60 mins).
  • Note: Candidates must score at least 50% in each subject to qualify.
  • Viva-Voce (50 Marks): An interview to assess intelligence, personality, and confidence.
  • Medical Examination: Conducted at selected Military Hospitals for final shortlisted candidates.
